Custoza

Hamlet of Sommacampagna, Custoza is a town rich of memories of the Risorgimento. Two battles were fought here, and testimony of them can be found in monuments: the shack of the Sardinian Drummer Boy, the monument to the grenadiers of the Sardinia Brigade, the monument to the Cavalchina. In the Ossuary, which houses a small museum, the rests of many Italian and Austrian soldiers are preserved. Very beautiful is the seventeenth-century Villa Pignatti Morano, besides which stands the farmer’s house, peculiar seventeenth-century building with “colombara” (dove-cot) tower.
