Garda

Garda is a small gem on the lake. To the north of it we find the charming promontory of San Vigilio; to the south, the hill of the Rocca from where one can enjoy a wonderful panorama. A monastery of Camaldolite friars stands on the Rocca.
Nowadays Garda has become a resort town and the alleys of the historic center, once inhabited by fishermen, now house stores, hotels and restaurants. Fishing is still practiced by the locals, though. Indeed, the most important events that take place in Garda are tied to the traditions of the fishermen. The “Palio delle Contrade” is a regatta of traditional rowing boats that takes place on August 15, while the “Sardellata al Pal del Vo'” is a dinner that takes place on a boat in the middle of the lake by moonlight, in July.
