Mantua is a city rich of art and history. The famous Piazza Sordello preserves its medieval style and houses the Palazzo Ducale and the Duomo. Of great importance is Palazzo Te, which was designed in 1525-35 by Giulio Romano and is presently used for important exhibits. Other works of great interest are: the House of Mantegna, the Palace of San Sebastiano and the Palazzo della Ragione.
Mantua is not only a city of art but also a city in which the excellence of the oenogastronomic traditions and the originality of flavors alone can be well worth a visit. The main specialties are: pumpkin-filled tortelli, fresh pasta called Agnoli dei Gonzaga, Mantua style risotto, pasta with beans and sausages, Mantua style stew and sbrisolona cake. Among the more prestigious wines we find the Lambrusco Mantovano and the Colli Morenici del Garda.
